Now a days iOS feels like a cheap knock-off of Android (a complete reversal of how it was in the early days). I can only assume anyone preferring iOS in 2022 simply hasn’t tried any recent Android flagships phones, because the difference in quality is pretty evident. There are significant missing features, and actually the same amount, or in some areas, even more glitches than on Android. I was on Android for 7 years and just a few months ago switched to iPhone. Purely for financial gain.Īlso, in general, I’d say the efforts of the other guidelines mostly fail. And if you want to reach their users, you have to deal with it. Instead, they take one third of your earnings, not for providing a novel service you asked for, but for an entirely ordinary, easy to replicate service, that you were forced to use. If it did, IAPs processing would only cost what ever the infrastructure costs are for Apple / Google (fractions of a penny per transaction). Maybe true for some of the app guidelines.īut requiring all purchases be made through Apple’s own infrastructure, subject to a 30% cut, has nothing to do with user experience. As a developer I want to kill myself daily. And then got rejected because it said “Log in with Apple” and not “sign In with Apple.”Īs a consumer I appreciate their stringent dev guidelines to ensure quality products. So we had to push out an actual app update for the user to download instead, which was annoying.Īnother issue we had was we have users who login with Google or Facebook but never Apple. They said we couldn’t have a premium tier service listed as an IAP and hidden. It has to be listed as an IAP.Īt one point we had a premium feature we wanted to roll out and make available via server side change and then showing the premium content in the app. We initially tried linking to our site to manage upgrades/downgrades and they said no. It’s a niche product so you shouldn’t be logging in unless you know what it is and why you’re using it, you’d have a subscription with us. We had to list all of our plans available in the binary we submitted. Example: Hello.Įxplanation of our link flairs Join our /r/bookclub Don't forget /new!
